At Cashmore we are striving to increase the fertility of our Nudie ewes as this is a key driver in productivity and profitability in sheep flocks.
Wool shedding sheep only have one income stream and that is lambs so they must excel in this area.
Performance recording brings the best ewe to the top which we then uses as Embryo Transfer donors.
The foundation ewe Cashmore Nudie 115471 has had twice as many lambs as other ewes in her contempry group. She has reared twins as a ewe lamb and every year since and has 46 progeny. With a Weaning rate of 0.25 its good to see all the high fertility Nudies in Australia with her in their pedigree.
A small number of Nudie ewes are mated to the best Maternal Composite rams each year and an increasing % are showing those characteristics. A stronger constitution, better attitude at lambing and higher performance are now evident.
